Hooks are built into Genesis are used to modify or add functionality to the core system of the theme framework.
This post is to get an overview of different types of action and filter hooks you will see in Genesis framework.
The Genesis Developer’s Handbook
The first time I have started working with Genesis I always looking to find a way to add contents at a specific location in the child theme. The time i have no idea how to add contents and so I have referred to visual hook guide plugin.
Time changes and Sridhar done a great work upgrading the Genesis Visual Hook plugin and added features like
- All the Genesis hooks are dynamically generated vs being hardcoded
- Clicking anywhere on a hook area and the hook name ready to be easily copied
- Does not show filters and markup
Open Live Genesis Visual Hooks and Bookmark it.
Genesis Visual Hook Guide
The plugin is available on Github and I have installed it here. You can always it on your site or use the above one updated with latest Genesis Sample theme.
Take a look at Genesis Hook reference for all available hooks and filters in Genesis Framework.
A warm hug to Christopher Cochran, Gary Jones and Sal Ferrarello for your work towards this plugin and upgrades.
Thanks to Christoph Herr, Timothy Jensen, Robin Cornett and Sridhar Katakam for sharing it.
