How to Install a WordPress Plugin

Last Updated on February 28, 2019 Favorited: 0 times

There are different ways to install a Plugin on WordPress. However, I am going to show you the two most popular ways to install a WordPress plugin.

Installing a plugin is simple, but it is recommended to install plugins from official WordPress plugin directory or from official sources.

Installing Plugins from unknown sources will ruin your WordPress site. Don’t use null or crack version of a plugin.

The two most popular way of installing the plugin is

  1. From WP Dashboard
  2. Using FTP or sFTP or File Manager

1. From WP Dashboard – Login and Hover to “Plugins” >> Add New and search for your plugin. Here I have made the search for “shield” security plugin.

Click “Install” and wait and click “Activate” to activate your plugin.

If You have a plugin from sites like StudioPress, WProcket or other you can install it by clicking “Upload” Plugins at the top and select the plugin from your computer and Upload it.

Once uploaded, You will see a different age to activate your plugin. Activate it or go to Plugins to see all your plugins.

2. Using FTP or sFTP or File manager – Login to your account and head over to your site/wp-content/plugins/

Upload your plugin here and Extract it. You can also directly upload the extracted folder from the local computer. Once Uploaded, visit the Plugins section >> All plugins and “activate” it.

Let me know if you have any problem installing a plugin.
