WordPress Settings

Last Updated on April 22, 2018 Favorited: 1 times

Settings option contains the most important settings for your WordPress site. Some of the plugin options can be found under this tab.

We have recently talked about the settings tab in our old post of exploring WordPress. That was a short talk but today we will know more about the settings options.

What we have under Settings tab:-

General – The General page contains the basic but most important options like Title, Description and Site URL settings. You can change also change your email address, Timezone, Date and Time setting.

You can also enable the user registration if you want. It is recommended to keep the new user role to Subscriber only.

Writing – Writing section allows you to change your default Post Category and Post Format.

Post via email is an additional option but is not recommended.

You can update your Ping list under “Update Services”

Reading – Reading option is mostly needed when you want to set custom homepage and post page.

Create Two Pages 1. Home and 2. Blog and visit Reading setting to set A static page.
1. Homepage = Home (Front Page)
2. Post page = Blog (Home Page with Paging)

Discussion – Discussion Settings allow to change article and comment settings.

You can manage your all your comments related option here. Comment Gravatar settings can be also changed.

Media – Media options allow you to change your different media sizes and allow to organize in year and month format.

You can uncheck and change the size 0 for all of the image sizes to avoid multiple cropping.

Permalinks – Permalink Settings in WordPress provide the ability to create a custom URL structure for your permalinks and archive pages.

The most popular option is “Post name”. You can extend your permalink structure by utilizing different tags available below to the custom structure.
